Dr. Jessica B. Lopez

Dr. Jessica Buicko (Lopez) earned her undergraduate degree in biology at Johns Hopkins University and her medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Miami and a fellowship in advanced endocrine and metabolic surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She also did advanced training in breast surgical oncology and minimally invasive surgery, including both robotic and laparoscopic surgery. Board certified in surgery, Dr. Buicko treats patients 18 years and older. Her primary clinical interests are endocrine, breast and general surgery, as well as minimally invasive approaches including robotics. She treats thyroid cancer, thyroid disease, Graves’ disease, thyroid nodules, multiple endocrine neoplasia, thyroid goiter, hyperparathyroidism, parathyroid disease, parathyroid cancer, benign adrenal tumors, adrenal incidentalomas, malignant adrenal tumors, benign breast disease, breast cancer, breast masses, wound care, benign soft tissue neoplasms, pilonidal cyst disease and gallbladder disease. An associate professor of surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Dr. Buicko is a member of the American College of Surgeons and American Association of Endocrine Surgeons. She has authored or co-authored more than fifty scientific publications and eight book chapters, and she has presented her work at local, state and national meetings. Dr. Buicko is married to a cardiothoracic surgeon, and they are the parents of two children. Away from her practice, she enjoys watching sports and hanging out with friends and family.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Thyroid Nodule, Hyperparathyroidism, Neonatal Severe Hyperparathyroidism, and Osteitis Fibrosa.
