Dr. Omar I. Madriz

Dr. Omar Madriz earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he also completed his residency in general surgery, followed by his residency in colorectal cancer surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Board certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery, Dr. Madriz treats patients ages 16 and older with various digestive health diseases. His clinical interests include colon cancer, Crohn’s disease, sigmoidoscopy and laparoscopic colon resection. He and his staff also speak Spanish. Dr. Madriz treats his patients with the utmost care and respect. His patients credit him with exceptional expertise and a genuine concern for their health and well-being. He takes the time to carefully explain treatment options and procedures to each patient, including drawing customized illustrations to increase their understanding. His reassuring manner and extensive knowledge inspire confidence and put patients at ease. An assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Dr. Madriz is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and the Texas Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Madriz is married with two adult children. He enjoys spending time with his family as well as outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing.

His clinical expertise encompasses Familial Colorectal Cancer, Anal Fissure, Lynch Syndrome, Hernia Surgery, and Ileostomy.
