Dr. William P. Warren

Dr. Andrew Fowler is a cardiologist at The Chattanooga Heart Institute. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and interventional cardiology. Dr. Fowler completed his fellowship in cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also pursued advanced training in interventional cardiology. Prior to that, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He graduated magna cum laude from Furman University with a B.S. in chemistry and a B.A. in music. With a patient-centered approach, Dr. Fowler believes in a shared decision-making process with his patients. His goal is to help patients achieve longer lives and allow for a better quality of life. He was inspired to become a physician so that he could be with others in their time of need and finds great fulfillment in fostering meaningful relationships with his patients.He is particularly drawn to the anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics of cardiology, and is excited about the advancements in the field that help patients feel better and live longer. Dr. Fowler was instrumental in integrating fractional flow reserve, a technique which improves the ability to see the significance of a blockage, into catheterizations in Chattanooga. He views advancements in imaging technology as a significant evolution in his field, which makes for better decision-making and allows patients to avoid unnecessary procedures.Outside of work, Dr. Fowler enjoys spending time with his wife, creating music with loved ones, and playing pickleball. Dr. Stephen Monroe earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine at Tampa and completed his internship, internal medicine residency, and cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. He held the position of assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.Dr. Monroe was one of the first cardiologists in this area to perform radial catheterizations. Currently, Dr. Monroe is involved in a number of cardiology research studies either as principal investigator, co-investigator or sub-investigator, or protocol co-author. The studies range from establishing condition-specific treatment guidelines to examining the safety and efficacy of pharmacological treatments. He is also currently participating in ongoing clinical trials.Dr. Monroe has been published in the American Heart Association’s journal, Circulation, as well as in Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases, The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and The American Heart Journal.|He has co-authored chapters in the books Cardiology and Cardiovascular Therapeutics, A Companion to Braunwald’s Heart 2nd Edition and has presented before the members of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. Dr. Monroe is board certified in cardiology and is a member of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society.Dr. Monroe is an avid hiker. He and his family enjoy many outdoor activities. Dr. William F. Oellerich earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis while concurrently earning a doctorate in philosophy in its Department of Pharmacology. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and served as chief resident at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He also completed his fellowship in cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine.Dr. Oellerich is board certified in cardiology and echocardiography. He has had specialized training in nuclear cardiology, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, autonomic pharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, and echocardiography. He has been published in the American Journal of Roentgenology, Neuroscience and The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.He is the director of the echocardiography lab and CT cardiovascular program at Memorial Hospital. He plays an instrumental part in the ongoing progress of the cardiovascular CT program. He is helping to coordinate the introduction of a valve clinic to The Chattanooga Heart Institute.
