Dr. Charles L. Wilmer received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia and completed an internal medicine internship and residency and a cardiology fellowship at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Wilmer is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is a fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians. In 1989, Dr. Corrigan joined the one of the three legacy cardiology practices that later merged to formPiedmont Heart Institute. He is a former president of the Georgia chapter of the American College of Cardiology and Medical Director of the American Heart Association for Metro Atlanta. Dr. Corrigan is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He was formerly the medical director of the heart transplant team and director of the Coronary Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta. He is actively involved in multiple medical device studies and pharmaceutical clinical studies.
