Dr. Arnaud F. Bewley

A native of Sacramento, Dr. Michael Kearns is a highly-regarded and experienced board-certified otolaryngologist who has been practicing in the Sacramento area since 1986. In addition to general otolaryngology, Dr. Kearns' special clinical interests include snoring and sleep apnea treatments, facial skin cancers and nasal/sinus disease.Dr. Kearns has been widely involved in the medical community and has won many leadership awards for his service to his patients, including being voted by local physicians as one of the top Otolaryngologists (Sacramento Magazine) in 2007 and being selected as Hero in Healthcare in 1998. Dr. Kearns currently serves as Chief of Otolaryngology at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael. In addition, Dr. Kearns has previously served Chief of Otolaryngology at Sutter Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Sacramento. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.Dr. Kearns earned his undergraduate degree from St. Mary's College in Moraga, California, where he was awarded Magna Cum Laude and graduated first in his class. He then obtained his medical degree from University of California, Irvine, where he was a Regents Scholar. Dr. Kearns completed an internship in general surgery and a residency training in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at the University of California, San Diego. During his residency in otolaryngology, he served as Chief Resident.Dr. Kearns is a fellow of the American Academy of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the California and Sacramento Societies of Otolaryngology. He is affiliated with Mercy San Juan Hospital, Carmichael and Sutter Hospital in Roseville. Dr. Groppo practices the breadth of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, including the medical and surgical treatment of ear, nose and throat disorders. He was initially drawn to the field of Otolaryngology because it offered the opportunity to improve the quality of life for patients of all ages – adults and children.Dr. Groppo has special interests in hearing loss evaluation and treatment, endoscopic sinus surgery, microlaryngeal surgery, using voice preservation and restoration techniques, facial reconstruction after skin cancer surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery and the treatment of benign and malignant head and neck tumors. He has received advanced training in office-based and intraoperative ultrasonography and uses this technology routinely for characterizing and diagnosing head and neck tumors, performing fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies and performing targeted parathyroid surgery.A California native, Dr. Groppo grew up in Sunnyvale and attended the University of California, San Diego where he completed his undergraduate degree in Bioengineering. Prior to going into medicine, he worked as a Development Engineer and helped to develop medical devices at UC San Diego and at the NASA Ames Research Center. Dr. Groppo subsequently received his medical training at The George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He then returned to California where he completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. His research has been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, and he has presented at national meetings around the country.Dr. Groppo has served in various leadership positions at Sacramento area hospitals and physician associations. He is currently the Chief of Surgery at Mercy General Hospital and the Chief of Otolaryngology with Hill Physicians. He serves as clinical faculty for the Dignity Family Medicine Residency Program. He volunteers his time and expertise by providing charity care for medically indigent patients through the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society SPIRIT program.In his free time, Dr. Groppo enjoys spending time with his family. He enjoys golfing, hiking, camping and skiing. He is an avid San Francisco Giants baseball fan and loves to travel.
