Dr. Obmann is a board-certified and fellowship-trained vascular surgeon. James R. Elmore, MD, is a vascular surgeon and chair of Vascular Surgery. Dr. Elmore obtained his medical degree from the University of Connecticut. He completed his surgery residency at Maine Medical Center and his vascular fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Dr. Elmore is board certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Delaware Valley Vascular Society, the Eastern Vascular Society, the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society, the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery and the Society for Vascular Surgery. Dr. Elmore’s clinical interests include carotid artery stents & carotid endarterectomy and was the principal investigator for CREST (a research trial investigating carotid stents). He has extensive experience with aortic aneurysm surgery and stents, and broad experience with leg revascularization with leg stents or bypass for peripheral arterial disease. Dr. Elmore is pleased to provide minimally invasive procedures for varicose veins for his patients at Geisinger. Stent placement for renal artery disease and mesenteric disease are also procedures he commonly performs. Dr. Elmore likes to treat all his patients as if they are his own family members.
