Dr. Beth Floyd

I am a transplant nephrologist specializing in the evaluation and care of kidney and pancreas transplant patients. I joined Duke Health in 2023 to lead the living donor kidney transplant program. Our living donor team is actively working to increase access to these life saving transplants by removing barriers to donation and through innovative use of paired donor exchange. Helping people live a longer, healthier life through transplant is my passion. I also value getting to know my patients and their loved ones, and seeing them through life's challenges and successes. I am a native North Carolinian coming back home and am proud to be part of the dedicated transplant team at Duke Health. Therefore, I think it is critical that we transplant physicians make it a priority to thoroughly and clearly communicate with our patients about all aspects of transplantation and to do our best to explain the complex medical considerations frequently underlying our decisions on what to do for our transplant recipients. I chose to pursue transplant medicine as a career because I see how receiving an organ transplantation can be such a life-changing event for our patients, and at the same time how much more can still be done to make this therapy more streamlined and less complicated for our patients in need.
