Overview
I am a gastroenterologist with special interest in advanced gastrointestinal and therapeutic endoscopy, clinical research and teaching. I completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1995, and am board-certified in internal medicine – gastroenterology. I was born in Pakistan, the seventh of eight children. After my medical education, I came to the United States and completed coursework toward a master’s in public health. I have enjoyed my past teaching positions as an instructor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and as a clinician educator at the Department of Medicine at Hennepin County. My title is MBBS, and not MD, because I received my medical training in Pakistan at the Jinnah Sindh Medical University. An MBBS is equivalent to an MD.
