Dustin Deming, MD, is a UW Health medical oncologist with a clinical emphasis on gastrointestinal cancers, including colon, rectal, anal, esophageal, liver and pancreatic cancers. He is also a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care. Dr. Deming is known for his commitment to delivering evidence‑based, compassionate care to patients facing complex cancer diagnoses.Dr. Deming’s research program focuses on developing improved treatments for specific subtypes of colon cancer and other gastrointestinal malignancies. His work centers on understanding how tumor‑specific genetic mutations influence treatment response, with the goal of creating personalized therapy regimens for individual patients. Glenn Liu, MD, is a UW Health medical oncologist and a professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.Dr. Liu specializes in treating advanced genitourinary cancers. These include cancers affecting the urinary and male reproductive organs such as the prostate, bladder, kidneys and testicles. Dr. Liu cares for patients who are both newly diagnosed and those with recurrent (returning) cancer.Dr. Liu’s care philosophy is based on shared decision-making. He believes that listening to patients is essential. He listens to their concerns and educates them about their condition and treatment options. He is excited about the many new discoveries happening now in the field of medical oncology and offers personalized care to best meet his patients’ needs.In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Liu researches new cancer therapies. This includes testing new treatments, improving decision-making processes and enhancing how health care teams interact with patients.Outside of work, Dr. Liu enjoys playing tennis, hiking and fishing.Being able to answer questions and provide support and help is very rewarding. Douglas McNeel, MD, PhD, is a UW Health medical oncologist and a professor in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine. He cares for people with prostate, bladder, kidney and testicular cancer using the most advanced treatments available.Dr. McNeel sees himself as a partner, working together with patients and their families to come up with the best treatment plan using the latest therapy options. He’s excited about the progress in cancer care and the treatments now available that didn’t exist just a decade ago.A medical research opportunity in college led Dr. McNeel toward his career as a doctor. He was drawn to the possibility of conducting research that could have a positive impact on the care he provides. He currently leads studies on immune-based treatments, like vaccines, for prostate cancer and is the director of Solid Tumor Immunology Research at the UW Carbone Cancer Center.Dr. McNeel is a musician and spends his free time playing the pipe organ.My hope for each patient is that they find either a treatment or an outcome that works best for them and works best for their family.
