Dr. Matthew W. Wade is a board-certified UCI Health eye surgeon who specializes in complex cataract surgery, cornea disease and transplantation, as well as LASIK vision correction.He earned his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., where he also completed the National Institutes of Health Clinical Research Training Program. He completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Utah School of Medicine, followed by a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery and external disease at the UCI School of Medicine's Department of Ophthalmology.Wade's research interests include astigmatism correction after corneal transplantation, laser-assisted corneal transplant surgery and optimizing the refractive state of corneal transplants. Other research interests include treatment of dry eye, corneal crosslinking, implantable miniature telescope for macular degeneration, cataract surgery and corneal infections.
