Overview
Dr. Desai completedschool at Michigan State University - College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Dr. Desai is trained and qualified in a wide array of cardiac fields. In addition to board certification in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, he is certified by the National Board of Echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound), the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (radioisotope imaging) and the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (cardiac pacing and cardioversion defibrillation). He is trained in Cardiovascular CT angiography and is skilled in a variety of diagnostic procedures including heart catheterization, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, and transesophageal echocardiography.He is the Medical Director for the western region of Piedmont Heart Institute, and is also the Medical Director of Piedmont Heart Institute Imaging Labs- Echocardiography. Although his primary focus is on cardiology, Dr. Desai's training and practice is based on a philosophy of holistic medicine - caring for patients as a whole rather than disease entities. He is based out of the PHI-Austell office in Austell, GA.

Shailesh Malla, M.D. earned his medical degree from Tribhuyan University Institute of Medicine, the premier medical school in Nepal. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Jacobi Medical Center and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Montefiore Medical Center in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. He has been involved in several research projects in the areas of congestive heart failure and echocardiography and has published several articles in scientific journals.
