He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature with honors, and Bachelor of Science in zoology, from the University of Maryland at College Park. Clinical research has included investigation of novel oral anticoagulation agents, new antiarrhythmic medications for both life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation, investigational cardiac pacing products such as the first MRI compatible pacemaker, and emergency antidotes for the novel oral anticoagulation agents.
