Overview
Philosophy of care | My philosophy is to be focused on patients and work with them to achieve optimal health through screening for medical conditions, addressing medical problems that arise and overall having a good, healthy lifestyle. I believe in the family medicine model of approaching the whole patient in the context of their background, including their cultural, religious and moral beliefs, to ensure the best outcomes and the healthiest life. That incorporates the entire family and the role family plays in health – because if patients have that social support, they actually have better outcomes in the long run. | Why I entered medicine | I got interested in medicine during college. I can’t say there was one defining moment or a specific event that led to it – I just had a fascination with human health. My interest solidified before I went to medical school when I worked as an office manager and medical assistant at a medical center in Queens, New York, where I grew up. I also did volunteer work in radiology, at a microbiology lab and with an ambulance corps. | Community involvement | I moved here from Queens in July 2016 so still feel new to the area. I’m enjoying learning more about the Lehigh Valley. | Personal interests | I like spending time with family and friends, going hiking and camping when possible and exploring what the Lehigh Valley has to offer – everything from restaurants to sights to natural walks and hikes. Some of my favorite places so far include Hawk Mountain, Glen Onoko Falls and Lake Nockamixon. I enjoy exploring nature, getting fresh air and being physically active. | I also like to travel and see different parts of the world – to recognize differences in cultures, cuisines and interactions between people. I’ve been to various places in South America and Europe such as a recent trip to Spain. I recently made a return visit to the Dominican Republic, where I had gone for a global health rotation during my medical residency.
