Evie Carchman, MD, FACS is a UW Health colorectal surgeon. She’s also an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.As a fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon, Dr. Carchman performs surgery on patients who have a wide range of colon and rectal concerns. She cares for patients with cancerous and benign (noncancerous) conditions of the colon, rectum and anus, including inflammatory bowel disease.Dr. Carchman specializes in using minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopic surgery, to treat colon and rectal conditions.Dr. Carchman recognizes the importance of comprehensive support and prioritizes the physical, emotional and social well-being of both her patients and their families. She’s also a professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.Dr. Hayden diagnoses and treats noncancerous and cancerous digestive disorders. She assesses rectal pain, bleeding and other symptoms, and performs colonoscopies to check for cancer and other abnormalities.Dr. Hayden treats colon polyps (abnormal growths), colon cancer, hemorrhoids and other conditions. Her specialties include inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. She also treats complex or advanced cancers and offers expert care for sarcopenia, a muscle-wasting disorder associated with cancer.Understanding the sensitive nature of many colorectal disorders, Dr. Hayden listens to individual challenges, concerns and treatment goals. Elise Lawson, MD, is a UW Health colorectal surgeon and an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Surgery, Division of Colorectal Surgery.As a fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon, Dr. Lawson is an expert in the surgical treatment of colorectal cancer and conditions involving the bowel including anal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, fistulas, hemorrhoids and fissures. She performs diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and uses advanced, minimally invasive techniques.Knowing that people with cancer and other bowel issues are often nervous and scared, Dr. Lawson works to help them feel as comfortable as possible, explaining treatment options and encouraging questions. She collaborates with a team of medical professionals to guide patients through surgery and recovery.In addition to her medical practice, Dr. Lawson serves as director of the Surgical Collaborative of Wisconsin, a statewide organization that works to ensure access to high quality surgical care.
