Having a health condition that may need surgery can be difficult. My goal is to communicate well with every patient about what can be done. There may be more than one choice of what to do, and I try to help my patients come to a shared decision that is best for their situation. As a colon and rectal surgeon, I treat a wide spectrum of patients, from patients getting a colonoscopy to check for polyps, patients with anal and rectal problems, to patients needing major abdominal surgery for serious conditions. As much as possible, I try to do surgery through minimal incisions. I hope to make the process of having surgery less stressful. A well-informed patient makes the best patient.
