Dr. Sohrab Virk is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center and at the Hofstra University North Shore-LIJ Medical School. He brings a passion for individualized patient care of the spine. This may mean either operative or non-operative care to ensure his patients get back to an active life. Dr. Virk is committed to using the latest minimally invasive spine surgical techniques to optimize recovery time and minimize post-operative pain.Dr. Virk earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and went on to medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine. He then completed an Orthopedic Surgery residency at The Ohio State University. Dr. Virk received specialized training in spine surgery at The Hospital for Special Surgery prior to starting at North Shore University/Long Island Jewish Medical Center.Dr. Virk has a special clinical interest in applying minimally invasive surgical techniques and motion sparing technology to improve his patient s outcomes. He brings passion to both patient care as well as advancing the field of spine surgery. He has presented on outcomes/surgical techniques related to spine surgery at both National and International orthopedic and neurosurgical conferences.Dr. Virk is currently seeing patients in Long Island and is honored by the opportunity to help his patients cope with symptoms from their neck and back.
