Dr. Roderick Meese

Dr. Andrew Fowler is a cardiologist at The Chattanooga Heart Institute. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and interventional cardiology. Dr. Fowler completed his fellowship in cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also pursued advanced training in interventional cardiology. Prior to that, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He graduated magna cum laude from Furman University with a B.S. in chemistry and a B.A. in music. With a patient-centered approach, Dr. Fowler believes in a shared decision-making process with his patients. His goal is to help patients achieve longer lives and allow for a better quality of life. He was inspired to become a physician so that he could be with others in their time of need and finds great fulfillment in fostering meaningful relationships with his patients.He is particularly drawn to the anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics of cardiology, and is excited about the advancements in the field that help patients feel better and live longer. Dr. Fowler was instrumental in integrating fractional flow reserve, a technique which improves the ability to see the significance of a blockage, into catheterizations in Chattanooga. He views advancements in imaging technology as a significant evolution in his field, which makes for better decision-making and allows patients to avoid unnecessary procedures.Outside of work, Dr. Fowler enjoys spending time with his wife, creating music with loved ones, and playing pickleball. Dr. Ledford completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda. Dr. Ledford completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MichiganDr. Ledford was the first cardiologist in this region to perform a percutaneous patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure on an adult patient. This implant is less invasive than open heart surgery thereby posing fewer risks to the patient.Dr. Ledford served for 22 years in the United States Navy receiving numerous awards. He has been published in professional journals and has been the principal investigator on several research projects.Dr. Ledford enjoys outdoor activities especially hiking, camping, boating and travel. Dr. Allen Atchley is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and also holds specialized board certifications in Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation, Vascular Ultrasound. He completed his fellowship in cardiology at Duke University Medical Center where he further pursued advanced training with a specialized fellowship in non-invasive cardiovascular imaging. Dr. Atchley also completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Duke.Dr. Atchley performed the first 3D Transesophageal Echo (TEE) in Chattanooga in March of 2011 and is one of only a few cardiologists level 3 trained in echocardiography and nuclear cardiography in the area. While at Duke University, he participated in research focused on echo and nuclear cardiology.Dr. Atchley and his wife have four young children—twin girls, a daughter one year younger and the youngest, a son. His leisure time is spent enjoying activities with his family. Dr. Atchley is a former All-American golfer.
