
Overview
Andrew Voigt MD, is a cardiac electrophysiologist and is certified in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is the director of the electrophysiology laboratory at UPMC Shadyside and is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College where he majored in history. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He completed his cardiology and electrophysiology fellowship training at UPMC.Dr. Voigt joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 2007. His clinical interests include treatment of heart rhythm disorders using non-invasive and invasive means. He utilizes techniques such as catheter ablation to treat atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, implantation of pacemaker-defibrillators, and left atrial appendage occlusion. Dr. Voigt has authored or co-authored numerous peer reviewed publications. He participates in clinical research evaluating new techniques for treatment of atrial fibrillation and novel devices to treat heart failure and slow heart rhythms. He is a fellow in the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology. He participates in the standard setting process for American Board of Internal Medicine Clinical Electrophysiology recertification examinations (CMP).
