Dr Ghani has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles, and his research focuses on endoscopic stone surgery and quality improvement. Specifically, he has been advancing a Dusting technique for ureteroscopy and has extramural funding to study laser lithotripsy in the laboratory. He is the Course Director of the annual Developments in Ureteroscopic Stone Treatment (D.U.S.T.) symposium, an international meeting that has exposed hundreds of urologists to advanced ureteroscopy techniques. He is also the Course Director of the American Urological Association annual course, Dust or Bust.In addition, Dr Ghani serves as the Director of the Michigan Urological Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MUSIC), which is a consortium of 46 urology practices aiming to improve the quality of care for patients with prostate cancer, kidney stones, and kidney cancer. Within MUSIC, he is the principal investigator of two randomized clinical trials assessing patient health-related quality of life and healthcare use after ureteroscopy. Dr. Ghani has received numerous prizes for his presentations and research from the American Urological Association, Endourological Society, European Association of Urology, and has lectured and taught surgeons throughout the world.
