Dr. Lena M. Napolitano

Dana A. Telem, MD, MPH, is the Section Head of General Surgery, the Associate Chair for Quality and Patient Safety, and the Lazar J. Greenfield Professor of Surgery. Dr. Telem completed her surgical training at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and her fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Telem also completed a Master’s in Public Health in the Executive Master’s of Healthcare Management program at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.She serves on the editorial boards of Annals of Surgery and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases, is a Subject Editor for Surgical Endoscopy and a Section Editor for Hernia. Her research and commentaries have been published in several prominent journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and Annals of Surgery. She serves on the SAGES and Foundation for Surgical Fellowships Board of Governors, and holds key leadership positions across several organizations and societies focused on quality and patient safety, as well as diversity and inclusion.Clinical Specialization:Her clinical practice is devoted to minimally invasive therapies focused on hernia, benign diseases of the esophagus and morbid obesity. J. Quentin Clemens, MD, has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. His research focuses on epidemiology and health services research related to benign urologic diseases, health policy, and quality of care assessment in urology. He has had continuous funding from the NIH since 2001. Dr. Clemens is currently the Principal Investigator for two NIH-funded research networks – the University of Michigan LURN Research Site and the University of Michigan MAPP Research Network. He has served as the Chair of the MAPP Network since 2013. His clinical interests include female urinary incontinence, complex fistulas and erosions, lower urinary tract reconstruction using bowel segments, bladder dysfunction due to neurologic disease, video urodynamic evaluation of complex lower urinary tract dysfunction, and interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome. Justin B. Dimick, M.D., M.P.H. is the Frederick A. Coller Distinguished Professor of Surgery and Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Michigan. Dr. Dimick is a graduate of Cornell University and Johns Hopkins Medical School. He completed his surgical training at the University of Michigan and a health services research fellowship at the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice. Dr. Dimick has served in several national leadership positions, including President of the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS), Chair of the Health Services Organization and Delivery (HSOD) Study Section at the NIH, Associate Editor at Annals of Surgery, and the Surgical Innovation Editor at JAMA Surgery. He has served as an advisor on quality and health policy for several organizations, including the BlueCross BlueShield Association (BCBSA), the American College of Surgeons-National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS-NSQIP), US News and World Reports Best Hospital Rankings, and the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC).Clinical Specialization:Dr. Dimick's clinical practice is primarily devoted to advanced laparoscopy, including treatment of morbid obesity, gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), paraesophageal hernias, abdominal wall hernias, and other benign and neoplastic diseases of the stomach, spleen, and foregut. He is the editor of the widely read surgical textbook, Clinical Scenarios in Surgery: Decision Making and Operative Technique, published by Lippincott (2018).
