I’m West Virginia-born and raised, where most of my family still lives. I practice medicine because I enjoy helping people in a time of need, especially children. The best part of what I do is building relationships with families. I know I’ve had a positive impact if a child’s family is glad they made the decision to come to me for care. Children are one of our most vulnerable demographics (the other is seniors), and we need to look out for them. Because many of the kids I see have a problem that’s readily addressable, I can help improve their quality of life in a meaningful way. I really enjoy working with parents, too – because as a parent myself, I understand their concerns. All children should have access to the healthcare they need. And I believe any program that improves quality of life for children, whether it’s in-school or after-school, benefits kids individually and our society as a whole.
