Dr. Benjamin D. Ferguson

Dr. Ferguson is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Hepato-pancreato-biliary Surgery. Following undergraduate studies in Molecular & Integrative Physiology at the University of Illinois, he earned an MD and a PhD in Cancer Biology at the University of Chicago. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of Chicago, where he served as an administrative chief resident and completed a medical education fellowship, followed by a clinical fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is board-certified in general surgery and complex general surgical oncology.He has won numerous teaching awards at every stage of his career. He is the co-editor of Difficult Decisions in Surgical Oncology—An Evidence-Based Approach. He is active in the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, and Association for Surgical Education.Clinical Specialization: Dr. Ferguson's clinical expertise is in the management of cancers and premalignant conditions of the pancreas, liver, bile ducts, gallbladder, and stomach.
