He earned his Doctor of Medicine at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. He continued his medical education by completing a neurosurgery residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, followed by a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.

He earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed his residency in general surgery at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. He served as fellow in pediatric surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital after completing a research fellowship and a surgical critical care fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.
