Dr. Michelle R. Paff is a UCI Health neurosurgeon who specializes in movement disorders, epilepsy and neuropathic pain, including trigeminal neuralgia. She has extensive experience in functional neurosurgical procedures, including deep brain stimulation, laser ablation and focused ultrasound. In addition, she provides neurosurgical care for patients with brain tumors and spinal disorders.She is passionate about caring for patients with movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor and dystonia, as well as patients suffering with facial pain, epilepsy and psychiatric disorders. She also serves as the Chief of Neurosurgery at UCI's affiliate VA Hospital in Long Beach, where she provides neurosurgical care for veterans affected with brain and spinal disorders.Paff earned her medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her neurosurgery residency and epilepsy surgery fellowship at UCI Medical Center, followed by additional fellowship training in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at the University of Toronto.Her research interests include neuromodulation, cognitive neuroscience and psychiatric symptoms in patients with neurological disorders. She is the author or co-author of numerous peer-reviewed research papers published in major medical journals. She serves as a co-investigator for clinical trials being conducted at UCI for epilepsy and Parkinson's disease.
