Dr. Paul Zei is a Cardiac Electrophysiologist and Cardiologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is Director of the BWH Comprehensive Atrial Fibrillation Program, with a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School.Dr. Zei earned his medical degree and a PhD at Stanford University. He then completed Internal Medicine Internship and Residency, Cardiology Fellowship, and Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship training at BWH. After briefly serving on the faculty at BWH, he moved to Stanford University, where he spent eleven years as a faculty member in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. At Stanford, Dr. Zei developed a program in complex ablation, a research program in technology innovation, and he also served as the Director of Outpatient Cardiology and ECG services. Dr. Zei then returned to Boston to re-join the faculty at BWH and Harvard Medical School.Dr. Zei’s clinical interests focus on management of complex arrhythmias, with an emphasis on atrial fibrillation, catheter ablation of complex arrhythmias, and device implantation. In his role as Director of BWH’s Comprehensive Atrial Fibrillation Program, Dr. Zei brings together a multi-disciplinary approach to the management of patients with Atrial Fibrillation and leads several research initiatives to better understand and treat patients with this condition. Dr. Zei’s research interests are in understanding the basic underlying mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias and developing new technologies to treat patients with cardiac arrhythmias.
