
Overview
Thomas Enzler, MD PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology. He received his Master of Science from ETH Zurich and his Medical Degree from University of Basel, Switzerland. After completion of residency in Internal Medicine at University Hospitals of Zurich and Basel, Dr. Enzler did a research fellowship at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston. There, he worked on projects focusing on tumor immune surveillance and his work resulted in several publications and in a PhD ‘magna cum laude’ in Biochemistry/Immunology (Harvard Medical School Boston/Max Delbrueck Center Berlin). He then moved to University of California San Diego to study signaling pathways of cancer cells and immune cells. While there, he successfully obtained ECFMG certification prior to doing clinic and laboratory research at Stanford University. From California Dr. Enzler went to Germany to do a Hematology and Oncology fellowship at University of Goettingen and he received board certification in both in Germany and in Switzerland. Dr. Enzler decided to return to the U.S. and completed U.S. residency in Internal Medicine at University of Arizona in Tucson. Following U.S. residency training, Dr. Enzler completed fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Columbia University Medical Center, New York, where he worked on several research projects on gastrointestinal cancers.
