Dr. B A. Williams

Brian Alex Williams, a radiation oncologist and member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology, has been practicing medicine since 2000; his areas of interest encompass all adult solid cancers. Dr. Williams says he chose his specialty because of the field’s elements of mathematics and physics, and that he is inspired by a desire to help people and solve challenging problems. He treats patients at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Cancer Care Center.While his specialty is highly technical, Dr. Williams’ approach emphasizes communication with his patients. He demonstrates humankindness by striving to treat and engage the whole person, rather than assuming the role of a technician. ”I try take the time to educate each patient and to listen to their questions and concerns at the outset of a course of treatment, and to maintain communication throughout the treatment course,” he said. “My favorite part of my job is helping patients and their families understand the complex nature of cancer treatment.”Dr. Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in English from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill before deciding to enter medical school. He went to Georgetown College for pre-med coursework, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in mathematics along the way, and then received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Outside of work, he enjoys music and reading and spending time with his family. Songwriting is his primary creative outlet.
