Dr. Ellis has developed special microsurgical techniques using exoscopes to perform complex brain surgery.Dr. Ellis earned his undergraduate degree at Harvard University and his medical degree from Columbia University. As a student with interests in the frontiers of science, technology, and biomedical research, as well as a keen desire to make an immediate health impact in people's lives, it made perfect sense for me to pursue neurosurgery as my life's work, he says.He completed a neurosurgery residency at the Neurological Institute of New York/Columbia University Medical Center and a cerebrovascular neurosurgery fellowship at Emory University Hospital. He will receive his MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business in the spring of 2025.At Lenox Hill, Dr. Ellis works with a multidisciplinary group of specialists including neurologists, neuro-anesthesiologists, pathologists, oncologists, interventional neuroradiologists, head and neck surgeons, radiation oncologists, and neurocritical care providers.Dr. Ellis is an associate professor of neurosurgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, Director of Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, and Co-Director of the cerebrovascular surgery fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital. He is also the principal investigator of several clinical trials that seek to improve the surgical care of patients with tumors and vascular conditions of the nervous system.He explains that the most rewarding part of his job is enabling patients to improve their quality of life. My goal is to improve the condition of each patient that I encounter with a neurosurgical problem by offering the highest quality of specialized care possible.
