Dr. Oluwole J. Abe

Cardiologist Oluwole John Abe is a fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society, and is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. His interests include prevention of sudden cardiac arrest, treatment of arrhythmias, heart failure management, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and catheter ablations. In practice since 2002, he sees patients at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Cardiology.Dr. Abe was inspired to practice medicine because he derives joy in helping people, and chose cardiac electrophysiology as his specialty because, he said, “I was fascinated early in my internship with an implantable defibrillator that saved a patient’s life.” His approach to patient care is to show compassion alongside shared decision making with patients, demonstrating humankindness with empathy and by listening. “The favorite part of my job is seeing patients living full and happy lives outside of the hospital,” he said.In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Abe served fellowships in both cardiac and cardiovascular disease at State University of New York in Brooklyn. Outside of work, his interests include watching soccer, traveling, spending time with my family, watching his children’s sporting events, chess and pickleball.
