
Overview
Dr. Howard Goodman is Chief of the Musculoskeletal Oncology Service in the Orthopaedic Institute of Northwell Health and is an assistant professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra / Northwell. His clinical practice includes benign and malignant tumors of the bones and soft tissue in the arms and legs, as well as treatment for bony metastatic disease.Dr. Goodman is a native New Yorker, and has spent his professional career caring for orthopaedic tumor patients in New York City and Long Island. He earned a bioengineering degree with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, trained in Orthopaedics at Maimonides Medical Center, where he served as chief resident for a year and a half, and did postgraduate training in Musculoskeletal Oncology and Limb Salvage Surgery at UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School.Dr. Goodman is active with Northwell Cancer Institute initiatives, including running the multidisciplinary Sarcoma / Bone & Soft tissue Tumor Board. He has organized and run an annual Orthopaedic Pathology review course for the residents. He is on the faculty of 3 orthopaedic residencies as well as fellowships in Orthopaedic Joint Reconstruction, General Surgical Oncology and PMR Oncology Rehabilitation. Dr. Goodman has written multiple articles and book chapters and serves as a journal editor for orthopaedic oncology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, International Skeletal Society, International Society of Limb Salvage Surgery and the New York Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.Dr. Goodman s practice centers around patient based individualized care, with both operative and nonoperative considerations. He is involved in developing new surgical techniques and 3D printed anatomic models, instruments and implants. He believes in combining biologic with implant reconstruction options for allowing best outcomes for his patients. He has been listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for more than 5 years.
