About Dr. Matheus Before joining Orlando Health, Dr. Matheus was the medical director of neurosurgery at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, North Carolina, where he was awarded the physician spotlight award for excellence of care. He also served as an assistant professor at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lillington, North Carolina. Dr. Matheus has completed a number of research studies, been published in peer-reviewed journals and authored chapters on several books related to spine surgery. He is a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Outside of work, Dr. Matheus enjoys swimming and scuba diving. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
