Overview
Dr. Christopher Gibson is a rheumatologist dedicated to providing advanced, compassionate care for patients with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases in Ashton and throughout South Idaho.
He earned his Bachelor of Science with University Honors from Brigham Young University and went on to receive his medical degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Fairfield Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident, and then pursued a fellowship in Rheumatology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.
Dr. Gibson is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and an active member of the American College of Rheumatology, where he serves on the Committee on Rheumatologic Care.
He is known for his expertise in complex and hard-to-treat conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, discoid lupus, gout, psoriasis, and psoriatic arthritis. His clinical interests include the use of autoantibodies as biomarkers in rheumatoid arthritis and the application of precision medicine in autoimmune care. He also performs synovial biopsies to support research and diagnosis, helping to advance personalized treatment strategies in rheumatology.
Dr. Gibson actively collaborates on research focused on axial spondyloarthritis, lupus nephritis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and healthcare disparities in rheumatologic care.
