Medicine seems to run in my family. My father trained as a physician in Iceland, and my childhood was split between the US and Reykjavik, Iceland. At first, I wanted to be a veterinarian, but once in medical school I had my heart set on Pediatrics from the start. I love kids. With eight children of my own I have realized that every child is unique and that there is no one right way to parent. Parents can be certain that I will be upfront with them regarding their child’s illness. I treat people the way I want to be treated when I step into a physician’s office with one of my kids. I try to listen more than I speak and learn from others at every opportunity. To me the treatment of a child is a collaboration between the child, his/her parents and the physician and team at Nemours. Together we will find the best solution, always.
