Yan Liu, MD, PhD, FACC, is a board-certified cardiologist and cardio-oncologist at Ascension Texas Cardiovascular in Austin, Texas. He is the author of more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific papers and is an inventor on several patents that led to two clinical-stage biotech companies and an FDA-approved, guideline-recommended first-in-class chemoprotection drug. His research established p16INK4a as the key molecular mechanism linking cancer and heart disease, setting the molecular foundation for cardio-oncology as a novel clinical specialty.
