Overview
Dr. Sriram Nathan earned his medical degree at Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, India. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Missouri at Columbia. In practice since 1993, Dr. Nathan is board certified in cardiovascular disease and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. His primary clinical interests are interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, angioplasty, cardiogenic shock, invasive hemodynamics in structural heart disease and mechanical assist devices. His patients describe him as an excellent cardiologist–skilled, knowledgeable, caring and considerate–who puts patients at ease and explains treatments and medication in plain, understandable terms. An associate professor of medicine in the Center for Advanced Cardiopulmonary Therapies and Transplantation at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), Dr. Nathan is the director of cardiogenic shock at the Larry D. Johnson Heart & Vascular Institute at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. He also serves as director of the advanced heart failure and transplantation cardiology fellowship program at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. He has co-authored numerous articles for cardiology journals.
