Overview
Sarah Ling, DO, MPH, specializes in family medicine at MercyOne Waukee Family Medicine. Dr. Ling is dedicated to providing a holistic approach to treating patients and families, health care for the entire family, mental health services, and encouraging healthy lifestyle changes and preventive health. I grew up in Ames, Iowa, but still offer excellent care to BOTH Hawkeye and Cyclone fans! I attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and studied biology with a biomedical concentration. While there, I sang in the Cantorei choir, ran track, and studied abroad in South India for six months, conducting research at a leprosy clinic. I then married my highschool sweetheart and we moved to Colorado for three years where I completed a Masters in Public Health (MPH) with an emphasis in Epidemiology at the Colorado School of Public Health. This degree has come in handy amidst a global pandemic. We then returned home to Iowa and I attended Des Moines University for my four-year medical degree and completed a three-year family medicine residency at Broadlawns Medical Center. For the past four years, I have been working at a rural health clinic in Dallas Center, Iowa, and am excited to start here at MercyOne Waukee, which is in the heart of the community where I live! My husband and I have two young kids (girl and boy) and are hoping to add to our family soon with a labrador puppy. My family has been in the lumber business for nearly 70 years. My grandparents started Beisser Lumber Company which transferred leadership to my father and now my husband with locations in Grimes, Fort Dodge, and Coralville. We attend Lutheran Church of Hope in Waukee and do our best to try to extend grace and love at home and work. When you don't find me at home or work I may be out singing lead vocals with a local blues/soul band called Jimmy the Weasel.
