
Overview
Dr. Waina Cheng is a medical oncologist hematologist dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of all types of cancer and blood disorders. Her primary interest is in breast and colon cancer. She also has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating benign blood conditions. Dr Cheng is board-certified in hematology and oncology. She completed her residency and fellowship training at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. She received her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Before joining Atlantic Medical Oncology, Dr. Cheng served as assistant professor of clinical medicine at Lincoln Medical Center, affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College. There, she strived to provide quality cancer care for the underserved immigrant population of the South Bronx community. For her work there, she was awarded a scholarship from the Susan G. Komen and Conquer Cancer Foundation for her commitment to practicing in a medically underserved population. To better improve coordination of care for cancer patients, she served as quality improvement liaison in the cancer committee. Dr. Cheng currently serves as chair of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer-accredited Cancer Committee at Newton Medical Center. She maintains professional membership in the American Society of Clinical Oncology, is a part of the Atlantic Medical Group and is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
