Philosophy of care | My philosophy is to utilize state-of-the-art knowledge and care in a compassionate manner to treat the whole patient (body, mind and spirit). I picture myself as a motivator of patients for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. I feel strongly about the use of exercise and diet to support appropriate medical and therapeutic modalities and to help people live longer and have more fulfilling lives. As for the use of medication, my philosophy is to not be the first and to not be the last. I understand the financial strains of our population and prescribe generic drugs when ever possible. | Why I entered medicine | I had an interest in science and interacting with and helping people. My interest began in 10th grade biology at Liberty High School. I've always enjoyed interacting with people socially, on the athletic field and academically. I especially enjoy interacting with the patients of the Lehigh Valley where my roots are. I enjoy discussing all aspects of people's lives, which helps me to better treat the whole person. | Community involvement | I coached basketball and baseball for 15 years while my four children were involved in the Northeast Little League and Liberty High School sports programs. My wife and I are members of the First Presbyterian Church in Bethlehem. We support church activities and New Bethany Ministries. | Personal interests | I play golf, go to Eagles games, attend University of Pennsylvania athletic events, run daily and read Revolutionary biographies. My wife and I follow our children closely in their careers and activities.
