Overview
Dr. David Jones is board certified in medical oncology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. He continued his medical education with an internal medicine internship, residency and hematology and oncology fellowship at University Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Jones also holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Dr. Jones is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners. His primary clinical interest is in biologic therapy of metastatic malignant melanoma. He diagnoses and treats cancers both benign and malignant tumors. He utilizes biopsy, endoscopy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), ultrasound and other imaging, blood tests and nuclear medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. An accomplished author and presenter, Dr. Jones has contributed numerous articles to peer related publications such as Oncogene and the Proceeding of the National Academy of Science. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine’s Board of Medical Oncology and a member of the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, Pinellas County Medical Association, the Society for Melanoma Research, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research and the Tinsley R. Harrison Society.
