Dr. Eric Smith is a Clinical Instructor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and a member of the Inherited Cardiomyopathy Program at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center.Dr. Smith received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. After working for three years in the medical device industry as an engineer he attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH where he received his medical degree. He completed residency and cardiology fellowship at University of Michigan. He has also completed a post-doctoral fellowship studying genetic cardiovascular diseases at the University of Michigan. He is currently pursuing a master’s in human genetics. His clinical expertise includes genetic cardiomyopathies and arrhythmia disorders.Heart conditions can be frightening and confusing. Dr. Smith believes in helping patients develop a deep understanding of their heart problems and advocates for patient involvement when it comes to disease management choices. When he's not at work Dr. Smith spends time with his wife and three children. He is an avid skier, mediocre hockey player and loves the outdoors.
