Dr. Shahid Ali earned his medical degree from King George's Medical College in India. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Bronx VA Medical Center and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University and St. Luke's South Shore in Cudahy, Wis. Dr. Nirav Thosani earned his medical degree from N.H.L. Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, followed by an advanced fellowship in therapeutic endoscopy at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, California. He has pioneered EUS guided radiofrequency ablation procedure to treat pancreatic cancer and has been the recipient of R01 grant from the National Institute of Health. Dr. Thosani has published over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts. Currently, he is Chair of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Standards of Practice Committee and has been involved in drafting multiple guidelines in field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. Dr. Thosani has been voted as Top Doctors in Houston by Houstonia Magazine as well as Top Doctors in Texas, by the Texas Monthly Magazine. Dr. Thosani’s practice philosophy centers on providing personalized care tailored to each patient’s specific clinical problem. He takes time to explain the details of a procedure, allowing each patient to make an informed decision about care and to know what to expect. It is important to him for his patients to have both timely access to necessary procedures and multidisciplinary care that is well coordinated. He uses the latest technology to diagnose and treat certain types of gastrointestinal cancers and perform procedures endoscopically that were previously done surgically. He treats patients 18 years and older and speaks Gujarati and Hindi. A resident of Houston, Dr. Thosani and his wife are the parents of two sons and a daughter.
