He received his B.S. in biochemistry at the University of California in Los Angeles and his medical degree at the University of California in San Francisco. He completed his internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston in 1990, his fellowship in medical oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda in 1991, and his fellowship in hematology at New York University in 1993. He has been an attending physician at White Plains Hospital since 1993 and served as section chief of the department of Hematology-Oncology from 1999 to 2007.
