
Overview
Dr. Michael Scola is a board-certified, fellowship-trained hematologist oncologist practicing at Atlantic Hematology Oncology located at Morristown Medical Center. For the past 20 years, Dr. Scola has maintained a broad-based clinical practice, with a focus on benign and malignant hematology. He is currently director of the new Atlantic Thrombosis Center, designed to investigate and manage patients with a variety of bleeding and clotting disorders. Dr. Scola is a skilled and compassionate physician. His postdoctoral training includes a fellowship in hematology oncology from Boston University Medical Center, where he received the Outstanding Fellow award and the Chiefs’ Hematology Award for clinical excellence. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. A teacher and mentor, Dr. Scola served many years as course director of pathophysiology at Northeastern University, Boston, and is actively involved in instructing residents at Morristown Medical Center. He is also involved in clinical research; has worked within the industry as a consultant, lecturer and advisor; and has authored articles and book chapters. Dr. Scola’s education includes a year spent abroad in Florence, Italy, and an intensive post-training program in clinical research at the Harvard School of Public Health. He serves on the boards of the Cancer Hope Network, and the Cancer Support Community of Central New Jersey. Dr. Scola is a member of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis.
